She was predeceased by: her parents, Lessie McCarter Dowell and Gus Dowell; her husband E. O. Gaines; and her brothers, Homer, Ray, Jim and Maxell Dowell.

She is survived by: her niece Sandy Terry (Ken). She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, and a multitude of extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Ms. Gussie to Patriot Paws of Rockwall.
