He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Vela Sr. and Manuela Sanchez Vela; and his siblings, Robert Vela Jr., Delphina Vela, Laura Ann Vela, David Vela, Richard Vela and Manuel Vela.
He is survived by: his siblings, Gloria Hill, Guadalupe Montemayor, Antonia "Toni" Vasquez, Sandy Garza (Sam) and Ross Vela (Debbie). He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews family and friends.
