He is survived by: his sons, Robert Vela III and Jeremy Vela; his grandchild Brynne Vela; and his siblings, Abel Vela, Ross Vela, Gloria Hill, Guadalupe Montemayor, Antonia Vasquez and Sandy Garza. He is also survived by extended family members and friends.
