He was predeceased by : his parents, Ynes Barela and Refugia "Cuca" Barela; and his brother Joe Barela. He is survived by : his wife Bernice Barela; his son Michael (Carole Barela); his siblings, Ramona Garcia and Simon (Virginia Barela); and his sister-in-law Elvera Barela. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
