He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles L. Baker, Sr. and Julia Walker. He is survived by: his wife Janis H. Baker; his children, Michael Harbert, Jr. (LaTanya), William Harbert, Sr. (Ján), Stacey Baker, Melvin Randle, Jr. (LaToya) and Dominique Baker (Christopher); and his sisters, Jeanette, Patty (Samuel) and Amelia (Danny). He is also survived by relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or Rockwall Helping Hands in Rockwall, TX.
