Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Benjamin for his warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. He was predeceased by: his spouse Colene Smith; his siblings, Diana Belle Cowan and Duane; his sister-in-law Betty Cowan; his brother Thomas Cowan; and his sister-in-law Shirley Cowan.
He is survived by: his daughter Kim Livengood (Bobby) of San Angelo; his grandson Christiaan Livengood (Destyne) of Dallas; and his brother Charles Cowwan of Lubbock.
In recognition of his many contributions to the Odessa community, the city honored him by proclaiming a "Benny Cowan Day" on December 18, 1991.
