Evelyn leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Evelyn’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around her. Though she is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support she offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Evelyn will carry forward her memory in their hearts.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ray Rathbun and Hazel Foster Rathbun; her birth parents, Ray and Hazel Foster Rathbun; her stepmother Lucille Rathbun; her stepsister Valda Parker; her sister Elaine Jimison; and her son Christopher Paul Backlund.
She is survived by: her husband Darwin Backlund; her sons, Brian Backlund and Bruce Backlund of San Angelo; and her nieces, Pamela Grant (Oklahoma) and Dawn Feagan (Georgia).
A funeral service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Johnson's Funeral Home (435 W Beauregard Ave, San Angelo, TX 76903).
