He was predeceased by: his parents, W. P. Scott and Thelma Pha Scott; his spouse Zana Beth Young; his brother G. W. (Bill); and his brothers-in-law, John Young, David Young and Tom Young.

He is survived by: his children, Stephen Joe Scott (LaNell), Sheila Beth Uherik (Jay), Sonja Gail Young (Mike) and John Todd Scott (Susan); his grandchildren, Jana Thomason (Craig), Sonora Lusk (Haden), Luke Uherik (Lesli), Josh Uherik (Sara), Meagan Schlinkert (David), John Scott (Kendra), Sarah Gonzales (Chris) and Emily Scott; and his siblings-in-law, Ann Scott and Billy Glenn Young (Mary). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
