He was predeceased by: his parents, Gaines Brooks and Lillian Brooks; and his brothers, Jim Brooks and Harvey Brooks. He is survived by: his son John S. Brooks; his granddaughter Julia Reese Brooks; his sisters, Annette Rankin and Jeanette Sorrel; and his brother-in-law Mickey Sorrel. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
