She was predeceased by: her parents, Lois Hart and Kyle Hart; her husband Grady Lee Elder Jr.; her son Grady Lee Elder III; her sister Juanell Johnson; and her granddaughters, Scarlett and Savannah Beasley.

She is survived by: her son John Stephen Elder of San Augustine, TX; her daughter-in-law Connie Elder of Destin, FL; her grandchildren, Jason Elder (Kristin) of Destin, FL, Elizabeth Chambers (David) of San Angelo, TX, Ross Elder (Laura) of Chattanooga, TN, Stephen Elder (Wynne) of Bryan, TX and Alexandrea Elder of Houston, TX.; her sisters, Francene James of Lubbock and Linda (Bob) of Fort Worth; and her daughters-in-law, Martha Elder and Sherry Donovan. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials in her honor can be made to the American Cancer Society or Meals for the Elderly.
