He was predeceased by: his parents, Sarah Elizabeth Keyes Johnston and Sam M Johnston. He is survived by: his wife Joanie; his children, William Richard Johnston Jr. (Michelle) of George West, Joan Elizabeth Niehues (Rory) of St Lawrence and Virginia Lee Gleghorn (Kevin) of Vancourt; his grandchildren, William Richard Johnston III (Jessica), Alyssa Johnston Burleson (John Douglas), Trey Johnston, Megan Niehues Halfmann (Alex), Taylor Niehues (Kristin), Paige Niehues Wang (George), Darian Gleghorn Masters (Clint) and Regan Gleghorn; his great grandchildren, Hallie, William Richard Johnston IV, Jude, James, Joan Burleson, Elle, Chloe, Colter Halfmann, Jack Niehues, Imogen Wang and Cole Masters; and his brother Tom Johnston (Eva).
