He is survived by: his wife Leslie June; his children, Bucky (Debbie), Duncan and Melissa; his grandchildren, Tate Smith (Star), Tucker Smith (Kelly), Jack Vester and Corey Vester; and his great grandchildren, Summer and Rhett Smith.
In 2005, he was honored as one of the inaugural recipients of the San Marcos Education Foundation Distinguished Alumni Award.
