He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis William Hafer and Minnie E. Hafer (Henrichsen); and his siblings, Emma Hafer, Alvin, Willie, Clarence and Olin Hafer.
He is survived by: his wife Verdell L. Hafer (Dahse); his children, Gerald Wayne Hafer (Gayle), Kathleen Louise Brockenbush (Floyd) and Suzanne Hafer Strange (Jon); his grandchildren, Gregory Andres Hafer, Hannah Verdell Hafer, Victoria Leigh Strange, Eliabeth Lena Perry (Everard) and Karen Leigh Brockenbush; and his great grandchildren, Elijah Micha Perry, Ephram Jon Perry and Ezra George Perry.
