He was predeceased by: his parents, Darlene Mayes (Godbold) and Jack Thurman Mayes; his sister Nancy Mayes; and his brother-in-law Virgil Brietzke. He is survived by: his wife Mona Lange Mayes; his daughters, Colinda Burns (Darin) and Monica Polasek (Michael); his granddaughter Allie Barrilleaux (Beau); his great grandchildren, Blakely Barrilleaux and Barrett Barrilleaux; and his siblings-in-law, Lillian Brietzke, Doyle Lange (Billie), Jimmie Lange (Gloria) and Linda Ebest (Edward Bode). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Tres Hewell Mortuary (165 Tor Dr, Seguin, TX 78155). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Emanuel's Lutheran Church (206 N Travis St, Seguin, TX 78155). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 3:30 PM at 6655 I-10 Frontage Rd, Seguin, TX 78155.
