He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Mertz Sr. and Mary Lou Mertz Hinds. He is survived by: his wife Cecilia Lopez Mertz; and his siblings, MaryLou Deardorff (Don), Henry Mertz Sr. (Joann), Sylvia Sanchez (Jesse), Melinda Villareal, Berta Soria and Willie Mertz Jr. (Petra).
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Palmer Mortuary & Cremations (1116 N Austin St, Seguin, TX 78155). A rosary will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (409 W Krezdorn St, Seguin, TX 78155). A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery (409 W Krezdorn St, Seguin, TX 78155).
