He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ritchie and Della Ritchie (Levo); and his brothers, John Edward Ritchie, Sr. and Michael James Ritchie, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Svoboda of Mary's Catholic Church; his sons, Walter, Jr. (Sally) of Plano, Dwayne (Kim) of Anderson, Jeremy (Lizzette) of Seguin and Darryl (Tera) of Kyle; his grandchildren, Katy McSwiggan (Pierce), Walter, III (Lara), Elizabeth, Emily Ritchie, Zachary, Jonathan Ritchie, Ethan and Malania Ritchie; his great grandchild Asher McSwiggan; and his half-sisters, Zulema Fernandez and Blanca Soto Ritchie. He is also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews.
