He was predeceased by : his parents, James Edward Donalson and Louise Jeanette Davis Donalson; his son John W. Donalson, Jr.; and his brothers, Frank Donalson, Joe Donalson and James Donalson.

He is survived by : his daughter Roxanne Medford; his granddaughters, Grace Rodriguez (Mateo) and Faith Haley (Heath); his great grandchildren, Ellie Rodriguez and Emerie Rodriguez; and his sister-in-law Ruby Donalson.
