He was predeceased by: his mother Helen Nelson-Horne of Melbourne; his grandparents, Samuel and Hattie Nelson of Waugh; his aunt Mary Foreman of Georgiana, Alabama.; and his brothers, Carey Horne (Anne) of Trenton and Dr. Maurice Horne of Tampa, FL.
He is survived by: his wife Nellie Green-Nelson of Sherman; his brother Azie Horne (Josette) of Niceville, FL; and his children, Charles Stewart of Cleveland, Donald S. Nelson, Jr. (Shawnnette) of Akron and Renee Cole (Jeffrey) of Bedford Heights. He is also survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hudson Funeral Home (620 W Commerce St, Greenville, AL 36037). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location.
