He was predeceased by: his wife Patsy Joan Simmons; his parents, Robert Simmons and Annabell Simmons; his children, Lynn Simmons, Chris Wayne Simmons and Patty Ann Meek; his grandson Robert Simmons; and his siblings, Steve Simmons, Luther Simmons, Doris Trobough and Robert "Bob" Simmons.

He is survived by: his son Gary Martin "Marty" Simmons (Tina); his grandchildren, Korbin Byron Simmons, Chandler Lee Simmons and Christian Renee Hearn (Kolby); his great grandchildren, Weston Wayne Hearn and River Reid Hearn; his granddaughter Brandy Penney (Matthew); and his sisters, Shirley Brown and Charlotte Papke Neal. He is also survived by numerous other great-grandchildren.
