He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Shields and Louis Karns; his sister Juanita Einck; and his brother-in-law Bobby Breeden. He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Shields of Defiance; his children, Tammy Murray (Mark) of Spearman and Will Shields (Jennie) of Borger Texas; his grandchildren, Isaac Herndon (Jessica) of Spearman, Matt Diaz (Anne Marie) of Spearman, Dalton Shields (Makena) of Amarillo, Lilly Shields of Amarillo, Jewel Ketterer of Oklahoma City, OK and Cheyenne Dominguez (Michael) of Borger; his daughter Liz Hartsell; and his siblings, Jimmy (Karen), Herb Shields (Teresa) of Clarendon, Rob Shields (Patty) of Spearman and Doris Breeden of Canyon. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Spearman Union Church (31 S Endicott St, Spearman, TX 79081).
