She was predeceased by: her parents, K. E. Sivaramakrishnan and Visalakshi; her husband P. L. Ramakrishnan; and her son Dr. P. R. Lakshmanan (Dorai). She is survived by: her daughter-in-law Vijaya Krishnan; her children, T. R. A. Krishnan (R. S. Krishnan) and K. S. Krishnamurthy; her siblings, Sathyabhama Iyer (Lalita Chidambaran), Lalita Chidambaran and Sathyabhama Iyer; her grandson Venkatram Krishnan (Shilpa); her sister Mohan Krishnan; her grandchildren, Rekha Lakshmanan (Huan Le) and Shamaa Lakshmanan (David Gulley); and her great grandchildren, Aditi Krishnan, Anika Krishnan, Eshan Lakshmanan-Gulley and Rohan Lakshmanan-Gulley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and great and great grand nieces and nephews.
