He was predeceased by: his parents, William Alfred and Evelyn May Chappell (Robertston); his wife Brenda Kay Chappell (Ferguson); his son James Arthur Chappell Jr.; and his sister JoAnn Vall.
He is survived by: his children, Renee Trapasso (David) and Bill Chappell (Barbara). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren.
