He was predeceased by : his parents, Fay Anderson Means and John Willie Means; his son James C. Means; his grandchildren, James Joshua Fielder, Jerry Frank Fielder, Ethel Aileen Mitchell and Cicillia Means; and his brothers, Jerry Means and Pat Means.

He is survived by : his wife Emma Alvina Mott Means; his children, Ethel Fay Rogers (Curtis) of Spurger, Nelda Powers (David) of Toledo Bend, John B. Means of Spurger and Thomas Means of Spurger; his stepdaughter Sandra Lyrock (Jimmy) of Spurger; and his siblings, Nancy Griffin (Bobby) of Woodville and Neil Means (Kay) of Spurger. He is also survived by other family members and friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, May 20th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Riley Funeral Home (913 U. S. Hwy 190, Woodville, TX 75979). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 21st 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
