He was predeceased by : his parents, Annice Mims and J. T. Mims; his wife Kay Mims; and his brother Lawrence Lowrance. He is survived by : his sons, Rickey Mims, Ronnie Mims, Russell Mims and Robert Mims; and his sister Lorece Avery. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren.
