She was predeceased by: her parents, Matilde Benavides and Bernardo Gutierrez. She is survived by: her children, Silvia Rios, Yolanda Esparza and Gabriel Romero; her siblings, Priscilla Garza, Mary Rodriguez and Manuel Gutierrez; her husband Gabriel Romero, Sr.; her sister Elena Samora; and her grandson Louis Romero. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren as well as many extended family.
