He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Zerkle and Anna Mae Zerkle; and his aunts, Marie and Gertie Lee. He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Zerkle; his children, Heidi Hall (Lonnie), Thomas "Zack" Zerkle, Stephen Kroll and Rhonda Bays (Scott); his grandchildren, Nicholas Zerkle, Colton Kroll, Ashlee Bays, Ashleigh Kroll, Nathaniel Hall, Chole Bays, Ian Howard, Hannah Kroll, Caden Howard, Jaleigh Hall and Brielle Zerkle; his cousin Ann Bridges; and his sons-in-law, Scott Bays and Lonnie Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in his memory to Faith Lutheran Church of Stephenville, Texas and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
