She was predeceased by: her parents, Wylie D. Gardner and Icie Naomi Brooks Gardner; her siblings, James Preston Gardner, Harold Brooks Gardner and Katherine Gail Gardner Lucas; and her former husband Charles Byron Smith, Jr..

She is survived by: her son Stephen Earl Schuster of Sugar Land, Texas..
