He was predeceased by : his parents, Hamilton McDuffey Millstid and Elizabeth Irene Newman Millstid; his wife Jewell S. Nesmith; his son Ray; and his siblings, Atmar Millstid, H. M. Millstid, Murl Millstid, Rev. Burl Millstid, Agnes Miller, Crickett Tipton, Lola Larkin and Vera Lowery.

He is survived by : his family, Darren Nesmith (family: Rachel Wines) and John V. Nesmith, Jr.; and his caregivers, Andre, Talena and CareBuilders. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
