He was predeceased by: his parents, Pedro Chavez and Maria Smithwick Serna (Serna); and his sister Virginia Grace Chavez. He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Chavez of Taft, Texas; his sons, Tony Orlando Chavez (Valerie) of Taft, Texas and Joe Henry Chavez (Monique) of Annaville, Texas; his stepchildren, Erica Mutchler (Josh) of Taft, Texas, Omar Alaniz (Mariah) of Taft, Texas, John Alaniz (Lizeth) of Manor, Texas and Augustine Alaniz of Bishop, Texas; his grandchildren, Allison Chavez (Marcus Riojas), Tony Chavez, Jr., Olivia S. Chavez, Elena Chavez and Mellina Chavez; his great grandchild Adaline G. Riojas; and his siblings, Pedro Chavez (Maria) of Ft. Moore, Georgia, Steven Chavez (Karry) of Sinton, Texas, Israel Chapa (Angelica) of Taft, Texas, Ludivina Aguirre, Nelda Acosta (Johnny) of Taft, Texas and Pat Chavez (Miguel Lara) of Annaville, Texas.
