He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Hicks and Maggie Hicks; and his son Aaron John "A. J." Hicks. He is survived by: his wife Karen Hicks; his daughters, Angela Hicks and Amy Slayton (Shawn); his grandchildren, James Hamilton (Amy), Tyler McDaniel (Emily), Alyssa Hamilton and Austin James Hicks; his great grandchildren, Judah, Lealand, Adelaide, Ryker, Darian, McKinley and Evelyn "Evie"; and his close friends, Eric Straach, Katie, Ethan Straach and Doug Drake. He is also survived by 2 sisters, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, and a multitude of friends.
The family requests that memorials be made to Valera Baptist Church or the National Kidney Foundation.
