He was predeceased by: his father Lawrence "Sonny" Alton Smith; his former wife Willie Mae; his mother Allie Pearl "Ann" Cockrell; and his siblings, Edward Smith, Gary Cockrell, Phyllis Ann Cockrell and Connie Leigh Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Bamani Smith of Tatum; his child Loura Mae Smith of Tatum; his grandchildren, Lee Ann Brown of Conroe, Kimberly Wynette Clements (Wayne) of Cleveland and Jiles Andrew Smith; his great grandchild Fatemah Salahi (Big Mo) of Bandar; his grandchild Anzali; his sisters, Sheila Story (Emmett) of Lake Limestone, Patricia Dunlop (Nicky) of Baytown, Nancy Burwell of Crosby, Sonnye Thomspon (Freddie) of Huntsville, Deborah Mills (Wiley) of Cleveland and Terri Cook of Channelview; and his grandchildren, Ausin, Victoria, Sophia, Daniel, Cory, Courtney, Alicia, Lauren, Roger and Nakisa. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
