He was predeceased by : his parents, Tommie Oakes and Hazel Oakes. He is survived by : his child Teague; his wife Melodye Oakes; his children, Amy Silar (Matt) and Tommie Oakes (Christi); his grandchildren, Wes Silar, Annie Oakes, Korey Silar and Ava Oakes; his nephew Anson Rhea; his siblings, Wayland Oakes (Helen), Geri Baker, Darlene Reynolds (Waydell) and Kathy Schill (Don); his parents-in-law, Bobby and Barbara Duke; and his brother-in-law Mark Duke (Teresa). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews special friends and co-workers.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Eighth Avenue Baptist Church, 201 S. 8th Ave., Teague, Tx 75860 or to First Baptist Church of Donie, P. O. Box 92, Donie, Tx. 75838.
