He was predeceased by: his parents, Clara Theo Wells Gilpin and Lyles McKinley Gilpin; his wife Rhoda Gilpin; and his son David Carroll Gilpin. He is survived by: his stepdaughter Lisa Layne (Chuck); his stepgranddaughter Hayley Snider; his siblings, Bobbie Adams, Shirley Gage, Pam Finley (Bob), Fred Ira Gilpin (Elida) and Jerry Lynn Gilpin (Nancy); and his close friend Sue Baucom. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
