He was predeceased by: his parents, William Proctor Hickman and Ruby Lee Hickman (Grider); his wife Hiroko Kurata; and his brother John Hickman. He is survived by: his daughter Janice Hickman; his granddaughters, Kaitlynn Hickman and Brianna Atha (Preston); his great grandchildren, Xander, Xaiden and Grayson Atha; and his sister-in-law Edna Hickman. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews.
