He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Emmitt Scantling and Patie Margie Phillips; and his siblings, James Scantling, Robert Emmitt Scantling, Jessie Riley Scantling, Shirley Scantling and Lucille Parker.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Jeane; his son Brian Paul Scantling; his grandchildren, Christian Paul, Casey Lee, Grace Isabell, Felicity and Kody Scantling; his stepdaughter Amy Miller West (Jimmy West); and his grandchildren, Maddux, Easton and Jaycie West.
