He was predeceased by: his parents, Hudgen Avery and Elizabeth Avery; his siblings, Katherine, Carolyn and Ralph; and his son-in-law Jerry McCoskey II.
He is survived by: his wife Vivian; his children, Doug (Kristie) and Jackie; his grandchildren, Tim (Rebecca), Heather and Madison; his great grandchild Caroline; and his brother Carl (Nobuyo). He is also survived by nephews, nieces and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Westlawn Missionary Baptist Church.
