It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Cheryl Durrett in Texarkana, Texas, born in Gilmer, Texas, who passed away on December 4, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles "Spec" Johnston and Cornelia Johnston; her husband Keith; her grandson Tyler Ashley; and her grandmother Vicki Boozer.
She is survived by: her children, Lauree Tyson (Wade), Amy McCollum of Daingerfield, Cody Satterfield (Katie), Taryn Ashley Brown (Colton) and Brady McCollum of Dennison; her grandchildren, Addilyn, Rylee, Dawson, Hallie, Sawyer, Wyatt and Taylin; her brother Randy Johnston (Carabeth); and her siblings-in-law, Judy Pardue of Daingerfield and Terry Durrett (Pam).
Visitation was held on Monday, December 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Horn Family Funeral Home Chapel (400 Webb St, Daingerfield, TX 75638). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Alzheimer's Alliance, 100 Memory Ln., Texarkana, Texas 75503, in memory of Cheryl Lynn Durrett or to the Daingerfield Cemetery Association, PO Box AA, Daingerfield, Texas 75638. Her legacy will continue to resonate through her family, her numerous contributions to the community, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
