She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Burnitt and Agnes Burnitt; her husband James R. Hesser; her son James R. Hesser Jr.; and her siblings, Abner Burnitt, Edward Burnitt, Mildred Bell, Delores Hines and John "Tooty" Burnitt.
She is survived by: her children, Pamela Owney (Bill) of Texarkana, Cynthia Tekeser of St. Louis, Missouri and Laurence Hesser (Sandra) of New Tazewell, Tennessee; her siblings, Rose Swain and Bobby Burnett; and her grandchildren, Jennifer Farrington (Ryan), Calvin Hesser (Rebekah), Claire Davis, Jonathan Hesser (Katie), Alyssa Justice (Jonathan), Nicholas Bennington (Emily) and Michael Tekeser. She is also survived by five great grandchildren.
