He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd McDowell and Allie McDowell; and his siblings, Dorothy, Pearl, Mary, Billy, George and Allison.
He is survived by: his wife Jean McDowell; his sons, Tony McDowell (Dianne) and John McDowell (Wendy Jo); his grandchildren, Paige Starnes (Shelton), Joshua McDowell (Toni), Nathanael McDowell (Jaydan) and Ashlyn Bates (Casey); his great grandchildren, Aaralyn Jo Bates, Aidyn Bates, Emmaline McDowell and Eleanor Starnes; and his siblings, Ann McBride (Billy) and W. B. McDowell (Pat). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, co-workers, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Chapelwood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Chapelwood Funeral Home.
