He was predeceased by: his parents, Weldon Daniel Cousins and Francis Butler Cousins; his grandfather W. R. Cousins, Sr.; his siblings, Alice Faye Perry Johnson, Charlotte Perry, DeAnn Dorward, Diane Watson, Jill Rose, David Misck and Mary Margaret Cousins; his mother-in-law Winna Jean Fancher; his uncle Tucker Weems; and his siblings-in-law, Linda Pierce and Randy Fancher.
He is survived by: his wife Sheila Sue Fancher Cousins; his daughters, Kristin Cousins Powers (Justin Lee Powers) and Rebecca Cousins Brightwell (Samuel Mark Brightwell); his grandchildren, Rexanna Powers, Dylan, Haylon Lee Powers (Myla Powers), Savannah Grace Brightwell and Sawyer Lane Brightwell; his great grandchildren, Dean Joseph and Haddie Mae Powers; his siblings, Jack Cohn, Ruby Bull and Barb Mathews; and his caregivers, Ann Paige and Glenda King.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 17th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Taylor Funeral Home (511 Ross Graves Dr, Timpson, TX 75975). A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Garrison (276 W Magnolia St, Garrison, TX 75946). A burial will be held on Monday, August 18th 2025 at the Martinsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Robert D. Cousins Memorial Scholarship Fund to support higher education in care to address 101 South First Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
