He was predeceased by : his parents, Eugene A. Rodewald and Julia M. Rodewald (Bussart); his wife Nellie Elizabeth Buchholz; and his siblings, Larry Rodewald and Jackie Leiter.

He is survived by : his sons, Steve Rodewald (Angela) of Lees Summit, MO and Chris Rodewald (Sandra) of Houston, TX; his grandchildren, Emily Hails (John David), Elizabeth Darby (Brandon), Chaney Rodewald, Taylor Rodewald (Elise) and Trevor Rodewald; his great grandchildren, Tallon Hails, River Hails, Kingston Darby, Sterling Darby, Ivy Darby and Boone Rodewald; and his siblings, Chuck Rodewald of Warsaw, MO, Greg Rodewald (Laurie) of Oklahoma City, OK and Cindy Rodewald-Layton of Sedalia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
