Thurman Henry Ellis, Jr. passed away on September 22, 2025, in Huntsville, Texas. He was born on November 3, 1949, in Houston, Texas.

Thurman was preceded in death by his parents, his devoted wife of more than 50 years, Sandra, his daughters Tracie Lynn Ellis, Lalena Ellis, and Susan Richards, as well as his granddaughter Ashley Dodd.

He is survived by his daughter Rebecca Richards and her husband Billy Weldon, and by his grandchildren Justin, Sarah, Josoph, Damon, Michael, Olivia, Gabrielle, and Preston. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Addy and Zaedyn.

A talented musician, Thurman was known for his skills as a guitarist and singer, performing a wide range of music from old country classics to songs by the Rolling Stones. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching football, and was especially fond of John Wayne movies.

Thurman was always cheerful and friendly, maintaining a positive attitude even on difficult days. He was a caring and loving father who consistently provided for his family.

He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind to cherish his memory and to protect his legacy.
