He was predeceased by: his former wife Loma Tomlinson Nelson Moose; his wife Shirl Townley Nelson of Henderson; his stepchildren, Joey Townley (Aleesa) and Christy Staneart (Kenneth); and his stepgrandson Max Townley.
He is survived by: his great grandchildren, Tyler Terry (Ashley), Trent Terry, Ashley Wyatt (Paul), Morgan Gent (CJ) and Courtney Godwin; his brother Jimmy Nelson (Loneta) of New London; and his stepgrandchildren, Addison Staneart, Aleigh Townley, Jake Staneart (Jordan), Trent Staneart and Kylie Carroll. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
