He was predeceased by: his parents, Norma "Pinky" Stanley (Cooper) and James Stanley; his stepfather Hollis; his brother Alvin T. Stanley; and his in-laws, Martha and G. W. Stratton.

He is survived by: his wife Tamela Stanley of Mabank, Texas; his children, Lena Salinas (Carlos) of Kemp, Texas and David Scott Stanley (Morgan) of Gainesville, Texas; his granddaughter Isabella Salinas of Kemp, Texas; his half-siblings, Polly Ann Weaver (Clint) of Rusk, Texas and James Allen Stanley of Purdon, Texas; his sister-in-law Cindy Stanley Ash of Dallas, Texas; his niece Britney Wyatt (Stan) of Grand Saline, Texas; his daughter Kellie Newell (Adam) of Brownsboro, Texas; and his close friends, Dee and Mike. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, church family, extended family, and friends.
