She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Slater Clayton (Saint) and Maggie Belcher Clayton; her husbands, Walter Simpson and Robert Rainey; her children, Baxter and Russell Simpson; her grandsons, Jeremy and Collin Brown; and her siblings, Edna Goodpasture, J. W. Clayton and Olga Youzva.

She is survived by: her children, Shari Brown and Clay Simpson (Yvette); her daughters-in-law, Melanye and Diane Simpson; her grandchildren, Toby Simpson (Julie), Tabatha, Trevor, Jordyn Simpson, Haley Simpson Schubert (Jeff), Hope Simpson and Haven Simpson Moody (Paxton); her great grandchildren, Annabelle Brown, Emma, Ella, Ellie Simpson, Amelia and Hudson Schubert; her sister Modena Jernigan; and her sister-in-law Helon Clayton. She is also survived by nephews and nieces and extended family.
