“I met Joe and Annie in Edmonton Alberta on New Years Eve either 1961 or 1962. We became friends. I visited them in New Orleans and we stayed in touch after they returned to Texas. I was all set to visit them there but had to cancel when Joe had surgery. It became increasingly hard to maintain contact when Joe lost vision and Annie became deaf and the computer was no longer her friend. The last time we spoke via telephone Joe told me I would be told when he fell off his perch but not so.”
