With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John A. Ward in Tyler, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 10, 2024 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ward and Agnes Daly Ward; and his wife Paula Kelley Ward. He is survived by: his children, Erin Ward Byers and Sean E. Ward; his grandchildren, Angela Russo, Tony Russo and Heather Ward Delgado; his great grandchildren, Joseph and Marilyn; his sister Margaret; his brother-in-law Darryl Reid; his brother Ed; and his sister-in-law Theresa Ward. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

“Erin and Sean, We are so very, very sorry for your families' loss. The Nygard family has a deep debt of gratitude for the tireless work your dad and mom did in helping to save our valley in North Dakota from a planned Corps of Engineers dam. And as for me, my life was forever changed for the better by the mentoring, example, and advice your dad gave me while I was in college. I am a physician today because of John Ward, period.
