He was predeceased by: his father Howard John; and his siblings, James Rowan and Nathline Davis. He is survived by: his wife Marianne Rowan; his son Larry Rowan; his sister-in-law Dorothy Rowan; his daughter-in-law Kristy Fincher (Vance); his grandchildren, Jordan Mallory Paul (Nathan), Chandler Rowan and Parker Fincher; and his great grandchildren, Mallory, Hunter, Dahlia and Avery. He is also survived by other loving family members and friends.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the New Harmony Baptist Church.
