William Lee Hughes Obituary

He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hughes and Gracie Hughes; and his sisters, LaVerne Blackmon (T.) and Wanda Blackmon (LeRoy). He is survived by: his wife Shirley Hughes; his daughters, Tammy Gray (Richard) of Tyler, Texas and Janet Stanley (Fred) of Troup, Texas; his siblings, Margie Cox (Paul) of Whitehouse, Texas and Larry Hughes (Fay) of Grapeland, Texas.; his grandchildren, Blake Gray (Kristie), Brooke Brown (Bill), Steven Stanley (Sarah) and Hayden Stanley (Laura); and his great grandchildren, Riley Gray, Savannah Brown, Hudson Brown, Elva Stanley, Daphne Stanley and Stratton Stanley. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 14th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Rhone Memorial Chapel (3900 S State Hwy 19, Palestine, TX 75801). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 14th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, January 14th 2026 at the Denson Cemetery.
