He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Melvin Mathis and Ora Bell Morrison; his wife Margie Batchelor; his children, Angela Turner (Glen), Pamela Lucas (Albert), Brian Mathis of Uvalde and Melvin Mathis of Uvalde; his sister Etta Swan (Harold) of Big Rock, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Brian Mathis, Jr. of Washington, Deanna Miller of Houston, Cheyanne Miller of Uvalde, Jessica Turner of Uvalde, Aubree Turner of Uvalde and Quinten Mathis of Uvalde.
